Our Story

Built from a stable yard in Somerset.

Mane Equestrian started with a conversation about rugs.

About five weeks ago, Lucie — a French-born rider who brought her horse Halloween from France to Somerset — asked her partner Ross if he could build something that told her what rug to put on her horse based on the weather. Ross looked into it, found a good app already existed, and moved on.

But then she mentioned something else. How frustrating it was to find events in England. Back in France, the Federation organised everything in one place. Here, she was jumping between half a dozen websites just to piece together a season. Ross had heard this from other riders too — so he asked Lucie to post in a Facebook group asking if anyone else felt the same way.

The response was overwhelming.

Ross had never built a website before. By trade he builds houses with his friends in Somerset. But he’s always had ideas, and for the first time in his life he had one worth executing — and someone who believed he could do it.

Two and a half weeks later, Mane Equestrian existed.

Lucie has been riding since she was about three years old — the eldest of three children, and reportedly the reason her parents stopped at three given the cost of equestrian sport. She competes in Eventing and Showjumping and occasionally joins fun rides across the Somerset countryside with Halloween.

Ross doesn’t ride. But he listens, he builds, and he genuinely loves making things for people.

That’s really all this is.
